UPSC EPFO 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Age limit and qualifications differ between the two posts.

APFC eligibility

  • Age: No minimum age; maximum 35 years for the general category.
  • Education: Degree from a recognised university in any discipline; a diploma in Company Law, Labour Laws, or Public Administration is desirable but not compulsory.
  • Age relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years; OBC — 3 years; PwBD — 10 years; EPFO employees — 5 years.

EO/AO eligibility

  • Age: No minimum age; maximum 30 years for the general category.
  • Education: Degree from a recognised university in any discipline.
  • Age relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years; OBC — 3 years; PwBD — 10 years; EPFO employees — 5 years.

Age and qualification are usually calculated as of the last date for submitting the online application, so treat these as provisional until the official notification confirms the exact cut-off date.

UPSC EPFO 2026: Expected Timeline

UPSC EPFO 2026 Exam Pattern (Recruitment Test)

  • 120 objective (MCQ) questions for 300 marks.
  • Duration: 2 hours.
  • Negative marking: 1/3rd mark deducted per wrong answer.
  • Paper is in English and Hindi, except the General English section, which is English only.
  • Interview (Phase 2) carries 100 marks; minimum qualifying marks are typically 50 for General/EWS, 45 for OBC, and 40 for SC/ST/PwBD.

Aayush Sir from Vyasa IAS filed RTI regarding the UPSC EPFO vacancies 2026 on 12 April.

RTI reply from EPFO was received on 20 April.

There questions asked were:

1. Will there be examination of APFC & EO and AO for this year 2026

2. Has the requisition been sent to UPSC regrading APFC & FO and AO for this year

3. If yes, requisition for how many vacancies has been sent?

4. If No, then when it will be sent?

The reply from EPFO was:

Yes, APFC-80 vacancies, EO/AO-311 vacancies

Requisitions already sent to UPSC.

Aayush Sir & Vyasa IAS Team further filed RTI in UPSC for confirmation regarding vacancies.

The questions were:

1. Will there be examination of APFC and EO and AO for this year 2026

2. Has the requisition been received by UPSC from EPFO regrading APFC and EO and AO for this year

3. If yes, requisition for how many vacancies has been sent? And when the notification will be released for the same?

4. Is the requisition process open till 31st March in a year?

UPSC Replied with the following answers:

Reply: A total-311 vacancies (SC-54, ST-21, OBC-70, UR-132, EWS-34, out of these PwBD-17) of Enforcement Officer/Accounts officer has been received from EPFO.

A total of 80 (SC-15, ST-10, OBC-18, UR-29, EWS-08, Out of these PwBD-03) vacancies has been received for the post of APFC from EPFO.

However, information related to the date of publication of the notification is not available as to the date of reply.

Point no. 4: yes

So it’s clear that UPSC has received requisition from EPFO like last year. And notification we can expect in July end.
